We sure wish we could have attended the Seniorologie / Savvy Photographer shoot out in Atlanta this last week. The styling was so adorable, we can hardly stand it. Finding balance and organization as a photographer can be one of the toughest parts. You swing from bookkeeper to artist in a matter of minutes. All those tasks, to do lists and projects on your desk can paralyze your productivity. Here is a little system I use to give myself a clear picture of what I need to accomplish, how I should prioritize it and when it needs to be completed. Let’s face it redesigning a business postcard is so much more fun then returning phone calls or entering my receipts in quick books.

If you find your self productively procrastinating [yes it's a really thing]

pull out a sheet of paper and follow the tips I outline in the video below. Quickly you will have a clear picture of your most profitable actions and when you need to take them!

Weekly tasks that create peace & balance.

I am asked often how I balance everything. Get Schooled Photo + Folio Love + Peachtree Studio = my business life. Yes, it’s a lot! It’s a TON actually but I feel blessed, grateful, joyful and I LOVE what I do. However I do have some tips for how I accomplish everything, actually let me be honest, sometimes I don’t accomplish everything. I try. Today’s tip is what I like to call Wednesday Weekly tasks. These tasks keep me sane, help me to stay on track and finish the week off with a BANG!

1. EMAIL MAINTENANCE : On Wednesday mornings I pour a big cup of coffee and DIVE right in to deleting and/or responding to those emails that weren’t time sensitive.

2. DESKTOP MAINTENANCE : After my email inboxes are all fresh and clean clean I then move on to my desktop. Want to see what my desktop looks like at this very moment? scary! By going through and cleaning your desktop/hard drive each Wednesday it only takes a small portion of your time. When I ignore this task and wait a month it takes hours and I get frustrated.

3. TO DO LIST MAINTENANCE : I typically make a weekly to-do list on Sunday nights. A quick snap shot of all that needs to be done during the week. Then on Wednesdays, I sit down with my to do list & re-asses. It is so much nicer to look at your to do list on Wednesday morning knowing you have three whole days to accomplish it, then sitting down on Friday morning and realizing you didn’t bust things out the way you should have!

Yes I have been known to buy something just because of the way it was packaged. It is a family thing, my mom does the same thing. We don’t care what the soap smells like, we will buy it only because of the pretty wrap, then display a few of them in a bowl in our bathroom. Food, yep the same, does it really matter how it tastes when the labels are in french and have a wax seal? here are some of my favorite pretty packages from pinterest!
